Christianity: Terry Jones was protected by the 1st Amendment..?

Why does Obama protect the development of the mosque in NYC by saying it's their 1st Amendment right to build it. But, his administration sends the FBI down to Florida to 'convince him' not to go on with the Qu'Ran burning. This isn't an issue of bigotry, hatred, or ignorance. This is a matter of upholding the Constitution and America's entitle to freedom of religious exercise. Regardless of how you feel about Terry Jones, personally, he didn't intend on doing anything wrong.
