Belgian Shepherd or Doberman?

Planning on getting another dog - ideally something medium/large, capable of deterring ne'er do wells, suitable for taking part in agility or possibly working trials (tracking etc) - but will also be a family pet. Has anyone got experience of these two breeds who could compare them.
