Edit: Am I an Italian-American?

I asked this question before but I just added another detail. My mother is Italian and Lebanese. My father is an American of Persian descent. He never even cared about his culture though. My last name is Sharifi. I just looked in the white pages and found 2 people with the same last name as mine that live In Italy. I mean I should be related to them somewhere down the line. So can I say I'm American of Italian Heritage? Please answer
