Henry Wadsworth Longfellow writing trends?

Is anyone familiar with the works of the poet Longfellow? I am trying to identify writing trends in his poems, but am struggling to find consistent ency. Can anyone help me find trends such as repetition, diction, persuasive appeals, etc.? I think imagery is a consistent trend, what do you think? Any help is appreciated.
