My granddaughter broke up with her boyfriend because he was very abusive towards her.?

After she broke up, she realized that she left her expensive game at his house, which costs over $700.00 and she would like to get it back. He told her he will not ever give it back to her. I have all the receipts and everything that shows it belongs to my granddaughter, but how do I get it back? Since her boyfriend is so abusive, do you think a policeman would come to his house so she and I can get the game? What is usually done in this situation?
